After some very public deliberating, Tom Green, the host of KWGN-Channel 2’s “Daybreak,” will, thanks to assurances from his new boss.

“I decided to stay for ,” Green said, referring to the VP-news director of KWGN-KDVR.

The two have known each other for years, through jobs at other Denver TV stations. “She is committed to Channel 2 more so than prior management,” Green said.

The second-class status of KWGN has been an issue for Green since the 2008 merger, he said. “The transition into a duopoly has been a difficult one,” he said.

Under the merger, CW affiliate KWGN and Fox affiliate KDVR were co-located at KDVR, under the management of Local TV and with a local marketing agreement that allowed for some shared programming and news operations.

“Having grown up here, she understands Channel 2…Our show is kind of an anomaly in the programming day.”
