Sleek and earthy ceramics dot show at Plinth Gallery
Through May 30 The title of Courtney Murphy‘s new ceramics show at Plinth Gallery — it’s called “Dot, Dot, Dot…” — also serves a a good description of her recent work. Murphy’s functional plates, planters, cups and bowls are painted with fine lines made of blue, green and red dots that cut across white backgrounds. They have a midcentury-modern edge about them, but stop just short of looking machine-made. You can feel the artist’s presence clearly in hand-hewn touches that cause patterns to come together imperfectly and surfaces to vary just slightly with each individual piece. They’re fun, and in their own way, timeless. Through May 30, Plinth Gallery, 3520 Brighton Blvd, Free. 303-295-0717 or .
