Denver authorities have identified Tuesday night in what police say is the city’s latest spate of gang violence this year.
Dominique Perez was shot to death at a home on the intersection of East 35th Avenue and Williams Street at about 10 p.m., the city’s medical examiner’s office said Friday.
Authorities say Perez died at Denver Health Medical Center from a gunshot wound. His cause of death has been ruled homicide.
Another person, identified only as a male, was seriously wounded in the shooting.
The shooting in the city’s Cole neighborhood happened about two blocks from rally against violence in the city and mourn the death of a .
On Thursday, city, state and federal officials while urging community members to help investigators.
The city said it will spend an additional $500,000 to help stem the tide of recent increased gang violence, which includes multiple fatal shootings in northeast Denver. In addition, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will install 15 surveillance cameras in those Denver neighborhoods most affected.
There have been 12 people killed in Denver gang violence this year, police say.
