Colorado Springs police charged a man with vehicular homicide after he apparently lost control of a vehicle on Interstate 25, and struck a tree, killing the 20-year-old woman who was riding with him Sunday.
Police received a report of the accident on north I 25, just north of the Fillmore Street exit at 2:11 a.m., according to the police blotter.
The driver and passenger were transported to a hospital. The passenger “died due to injures from the wreck,” according to the police blotter.
The 24-year-old driver is also charged with driving under the influence.
Two lanes of Northbound I-25 were temporarily closed between Fillmore Street and Garden of the Gods Road during the investigation.
