You’ve heard of baseball rainouts? The Denver forecast is also pushing back the launch of Denver Civic Center Park’s food truck season from May 5 to May 7.

That’s a tough two-day delay, and the way the Colorado Rockies are playing, we would much rather see suspended ball games.

“We’ve never had to do this on opening day before, but but we’ve never started this early in the spring either,” said Lindy Eichenbaum Lent, executive director of the Civic Center Conservancy. ” Needless to say, we hate doing this, but Mother Nature left us no choice. We obviously like to start each season strong, but Tuesday’s weather makes it impossible to guarantee that all of the trucks will show or that there will be ample crowds to support them.

She noted that the Thursday May 7 forecast looks more promising, so that will be the first day of Civic Center EATS 2015.

“While none of the local forecasters seem to agree on when the storms will be here, they all agree that there will be storms,” Lent told The Denver Post. “The good news is, this is our longest Civic Center EATS season to date, so there will be many days ahead to enjoy lunch in Civic Center Park,” Lent said.

When Civic Center EATS does launch, trucks will dish up everything from soft tacos to banh mi sandwiches to gyros Tuesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 8. Hours are 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

This is the 10th year for the Civic Center EATS tradition. Itap a great way to eat a cheap and tasty lunch in the open air. And there’s live music to boot.

A portion of the proceeds benefit the Civic Center Conservancy, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring and boosting the historic Civic Center Park. Shaded tables and an on-site ATM are provided. Civic Center EATS is mounted by the Civic Center Conservancy and produced by Hobnob Events with support from community sponsors.
