, the Colorado-based maker of Fat Tire Ale, had its trademark complaint against a Texas brewery rejected by a federal magistrate judge in Denver.

The , accusing Travis County Brewing Co. of infringing the “Slow Ride” trademark it registered for beer in 2014. New Belgium said it sent a cease- and-desist letter to Travis County Brewing in October 2014, and followed it up with a face-to-face meeting between officials of the two breweries.

According to court papers, New Belgium said it filed the suit only after the failure of the two parties to agree and because of “numerous threats of a lawsuit” from Travis County Brewing, . Oasis Texas Brewing presently sells Slow Ride Pale American Ale.

In a May 1 ruling, U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael E. Hegarty said the in Colorado for his court to have jurisdiction over the dispute. He also declined to transfer the dispute to Texas courts and dismissed the suit.

The case is New Belgium Brewing Co. v. Travis County Brewing Co., 1:15-cv-00272, U.S. District Court, District of Colorado (Denver).
