Re: “Why is Baltimore mom who hit her son lauded?” May 2 letter to the editor.

To answer letter-writer Merl Needham’s question: Baltimore mother Toya Graham disciplined her son by hitting him without causing any injury. She did so out of desperation, trying to save his life. On the other hand, Minnesota Vikings football player Adrian Peterson used a tree branch to severely beat his son, causing welts. Quite a difference in the discipline.
