The Fox 2015-16 primetime slate includes four comedies and four dramas, along with the confirmation that the faded “American Idol” is ending with season 15. On a conference call with critics Fox execs said it was an emotional decision. The overdue departure comes after several seasons of lagging ratings and cultural relevance.

“Empire,” Fox’s undeniable key bragging point, is staying put in its Wednesday time slot and will get an extended 18 episodes, split in two batches with “lots of amazing guest stars.” Timbaland and Ne-Yo providing music.

The fantasy drama “Minority Report” will join Mondays, following “Gotham.” Tuesday will be loaded with all new dramas, “Grandfathered,” “The Grinder,” capped by “Scream Queens,” (photo above) the Ryan Murphy horror-comedy anthology series.
