Colorado Springs police have identifed two people who died Monday in a murder-suicide.
The woman shot and killed Monday afternoon has been identified as 33-year-old Leah Cabrera. An autopsy performed by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office determined that Cabrera was a homicide victim.
Her husband, Joshua Cabrera, 35, also died from a gunshot wound. His death was ruled a suicide.
An investigation by the police department’s Violent Crimes Unit determined Joshua Cabrera shot Leah Cabrera and then shot himself. At some point during the disturbance, the home was set on fire. Investigators determined accelerant was placed in multiple locations within the home.
Two children, aged 15 and 8, lived in the home, but were not present at the time of the incident.
