KCNC-Channel 4 is making a bid for Most Obvious Sweeps Stunt in Denver TV news this May with “Tornado Week,” May 18-22 on the 6:30 p.m. newscast. Apparently “Shark Week” was already taken.

“Tornado sightings have quadrupled in Colorado since 1950,” News Director Tim Wieland said in a release. “Amazingly, 53 of Colorado’s 64 counties have documented tornadoes. During Tornado Week, viewers will learn about the trend of increased tornado sightings and find out the most common days and times tornadoes might occur.”

CBS4 Meteorologist Chris Spears will do on-air reports and will also be on site in Limon to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1990 tornado.
