Aurora Police were investigating Sunday evening following afternoon violence that sent a man who’d been shot in the chest staggering into a University Hospital emergency room.

The victim apparently was sitting in a vehicle at East 13th Avenue and North Moline Street when a man approached the vehicle, drew a gun and fired, Aurora Police Sgt. Chris Amsler said.

Police were looking for a suspect, described in a bulletin as a Hispanic male with a mustache, 5′ 10″, last seen wearing a grey shirt.

The police investigators do not believe this shooting was related to a morning shooting in Aurora, Amsler said.

Police declined to say whether they believe the shooting is related to a recent surge in gang activity or drug-dealing. “Still under investigation,” Amsler said. “Our detectives are out there.”

Aurora’s major crimes unit was handling the case. Police issued a bulletin asking anyone with information about this shooting to call Agent Jamie Krieger (303-739-6113) or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers (720-913-7867). Tipsters calling Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
