Former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. (Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras, AP file/The Guardian)
Re: “Edward Snowden’s role in exposing NSA data grab,” May 14 letter to the editor.
No, no, no! No amnesty for Edward Snowden. First of all, aside from his so-called “whistleblowing” about data collection, he released classified documents that seriously damaged intelligence operations and put intelligence operatives in real danger. That alone makes him a traitor. Now, we have young people leaving this country to join the Islamic State. We have homegrown terrorists and warnings about lone-wolf attacks, and some people want to limit the security protection of data collection on these threats. I am not hiding anything of national security on my phone or computer, and if the NSA needs to check in order to find real dangerous security threats, thatap OK with me.
