AURORA — Three men were in custody Tuesday night after a man was shot multiple times late in the afternoon near a bus stop at South Sable Boulevard and East Bayaud Avenue.
Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz said a man was riding a northbound Regional Transportation District bus on Sable when he got into a confrontation with another man. When the first man got off the bus at Bayaud, he was met by two men who fired several shots. The victim fell to the ground with injuries that were not life-threatening, Metz said.
All three suspects ran to a nearby apartment complex, Metz said. Police issued an automated phone alert, warning residents to shelter in place.
Residents gave police information about which apartment the suspects were in, he said.
All three were taken into custody without incident.
Metz said police believe the shooting may be gang-related but cautioned that the investigation is ongoing.
He said police did not know whether the two men at the bus stop were waiting for the victim.
