Protesters march in Glendale on May 12 to oppose the taking of property at the site of the Glendale 180 development project. (John leyba, The Denver Post)

I have been following with interest the entertainment development that Glendale desires to construct at Virginia Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. The city has already developed CitySet at Cherry Creek South Drive to the south, which has brought a lot of traffic that was not there previously. And, both Denver and Glendale can’t seem to stop building large apartment buildings.

Have any of the developers and city planners paid any attention to the traffic that all of this has placed on Colorado Boulevard? Evidently these people do not live in the area. This state highway, which has no room to widen further, is at many times of the day reduced to a virtual parking lot.

More development does not bode well for emergency vehicles or for local residents. While some may argue this is the highest use, the question remains whether it is the best.

Carol Lyons, Denver
