Getting your player ready...
The Denver Comic Con 2014 at the Convention Center on Friday, June 13, 2014. (Kathryn Scott Osler, The Denver Post)
Denver Comic Con is , so get your boffers and lobsters ready!
Before you head down to the Colorado Convention Center on Saturday, though, let’s take a minute to remember some rules and safety guidelines:
General rules:
- This is a safe space — no harassment. Seriously.
- Don’t leave your kids unattended.
- Don’t alter, copy, transfer or lose your badge.
- Respect artists and their work (don’t mess them up with your drinks or greasy hands!)
- You gotta wear shoes, in costume or out.
- No outside food or drink.
- No cutting in line.
.
If you’re going to cosplay:
- Weapons must be checked and peace-bonded by DCC staff.
- Prop firearms must be orange-capped, no matter how ludicrously unrealistic.
- No metal weapons or projectiles. (nope, no airsoft)
- Wooden or metal bats (or similar) are prohibited.
- No inappropriate signs.
- Don’t brandish prop weapons or make other threatening gestures.
- Keep military-style uniforms in good taste.
- Keep it PG, people! That means, as DCC’s rules say, “cover your bits.”
.
Common sense-type stuff:
- Stay hydrated.
- Cosplay is not consent. Don’t touch.
- If you want to take a photo with a cosplayer, respectfully ask.
- Respect your fellow conventioneers.
- Travel in groups, especially if you leave the convention center.
- Don’t overload bags — you’ll be walking a lot.
- Take care that you can cool off in costume.
- STAY HYDRATED.
