ASPEN — An Aspen man is accused of spitting on a police officer late Tuesday and grabbing the cop’s crotch before calling another officer a racial slur.

Patrick Charles Breslin, 40, was contacted by police just before midnight Tuesday after officers spotted him on the Hyman Avenue pedestrian mall. Police say what was initially meant as a welfare check turned into a profanity-laced struggle between Breslin and authorities, according to an arrest affidavit.

Breslin faces charges of second-degree assault, a felony, and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in Pitkin County court Friday morning.
