The 14-year-old boy accused of stabbing a fellow student on a school playground in Broomfield will stay in the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center instead of being released on bond and returned home to his family.
At a placement hearing Wednesday, Judge Francis Wasserman ruled that the teen accused of stabbing a classmate in the back on the Aspen Creek K-8 playground April 30 will be held at the detention center while he awaits trial. Wasserman said the boy has a record of fighting at school and might have created a “kill list” found by police.
The boy, whose name has not been released because he is a minor, is being charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and possession of a weapon on school grounds.
He also is being charged as a violent juvenile offender for the use or threatened use of a deadly weapon, and as an aggravated juvenile offender, both of which are sentencing enhancers, according to the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
