A man who allegedly fired off several gunshots near the home of his ex-girlfriend early Saturday morning was captured after a short intensive dragnet in Jefferson County.
Joel Vigil, 37, has been arrested for investigation of menacing and various other possible charges, said Mark Techmeyer, spokesman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
The mother of the former girlfriend called 911 at 7:54 a.m. after seeing a man firing several shots into the air.
Deputies immediately set up a perimeter near the home on the 5300 block of Sheridan Boulevard, Techmeyer said.
Denver and Arvada police and Adams County deputies immediately joined the search.
“We were able to find the suspect fairly quickly,” Techmeyer said.
The man surrendered without a struggle.
Bloodhounds are now following the man’s trail in order to search for the gun they believe Vigil tossed after the shooting.
