Re: “ American Pharoah wins Belmont Stakes, claims Triple Crown,” June 7 sports story.
I am really excited that we finally have a Triple Crown champion. Immediately after Saturday’s Belmont Stakes, I wrote the following:
I’ll Have Another Triple Crown winner in American Pharoah. Though this may seem like Any Given Saturday, a 37-year drought was broken. Finally, the Derby and Preakness winner was not Upset in the Belmont. He is truly a Pioneerof the Nile in racing and, as the 12th Triple Crown champion in history, is Somethingroyal. He will be a great Empire Maker in his post-career.
If you placed a Spectacular Bid on this horse, you were either Smarty Jones or Lookin at Lucky. Point Given to his connections. Though this was not a Rags to Riches story, every bit was earned. He showed his Winning Colors today by launching an Assault on his rivals, which total to 31 across the three races. At a distance of 1.5 miles, this certainly was no Sham race. California Chrome owners are just looking to Blame others.
I’m done showing my Funny Cide. (I should be given a Citation for the number of horses I just referenced.)
