ENGLEWOOD —Police say a 32-year-old man shot his roommate “several” times in their Englewood apartment early Thursday before dialing 911 to report the altercation.
The gunman, whose identity has not been released, is being held on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder.
Officers were called out to the 3500 block of South Bannock Street at about 5:30 a.m. on reports of shots being fired when they encountered the scene.
Police say the man shot, who authorities identified only as a 25-year-old man, was taken to Swedish Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities say they are working to determine the circumstances of the shooting.
“This is going to be long and drawn out. This will be a crime scene the rest of the day,” Kevin Sage, a police spokesman, told reporters outside of the shooting scene.
Sage initially reported two men were wounded in the shooting.
Englewood police say they have submitted the findings of their investigation to prosecutors in Arapahoe County.
Police say their investigation is ongoing.
