Interview with Bob Mizke, president and co-founder
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: After many years producing TV news for Channel 7 and Channel 9 and then as the vice president of a national advertising agency, I decided, alongside my wife, Bert Gurule, to go out on my own. Together, we started Oswego Creative over 20 years ago. With our combined knowledge of advertising and video production, it seemed like the natural thing to do. We were ready for the challenge.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: There are very few companies in our line of business that provide “soup to nuts” marketing for their clients. At Oswego Creative, we create concepts, perform production and execute strategy, all under one roof. While we are big enough to give our clients a polished ad-agency product, we are still small enough to give them the white-glove treatment. That is something we are proud to say sets us apart from our competition.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: No client or project is the same. You can walk into the office one day and it is completely different from what you did the previous day. The diversity in what we do is astounding. Video marketing is also extremely satisfying. We have the opportunity to create something from nothing each and every day. Our name is Oswego Creative, rather than Production, for a reason.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: The marketing industry is rapidly changing and we do our best to stay current in all that we do and finding the best tools and resources to get the job done and do the best that we can with the available resources.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: We have quite a bit of fun at the office. It’s a big family! And although everyone has a title, you would be hard-pressed to walk in here and tell who is really in charge. We find that this kind of environment is better suited for creative, engaged minds.
