Interview with Julianna Schuman, owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: I’ve always been fascinated with hair, styling my Barbies’ hair since I was little and taking the role of barber in my family. I started doing hair professionally in 2009 and have been infatuated ever since.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: I love people, I love to work and create with my hands, I love making people more beautiful and I love pampering people. I give my full attention and send you on your way feeling fabulous. I call it the “royal treatment.”

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: Naturally, I’m shy in a crowd, but when I am one-on-one with a client, I love hearing their story. There is a confidence and a vulnerability shared between the both of us that is priceless and rewarding, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: It was hard to leave my clientele when I relocated home to Colorado after 26 years. It’s even harder waiting for new clients to find their way into my humble shop.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: I am a graduate of Northglenn High School, class of 1980. As a native of Colorado, I grew up skiing and was an expert on the slopes. I also was a model in several magazines in the late 1970s.
