Police in Commerce City are investigating after a man was shot in the stomach Tuesday night in his home.

Officers were called about 6:15 p.m. to the house on the 6800 block of Jasmine Street where they found the 52-year-old man wounded.

Police say he was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man told police he was shot after two males entered his house.

“The suspects were seen fleeing the scene in older white SUV,” police said in a news release. “The preliminary investigation indicates this was not a random event and the (people) involved knew one another.”

Investigators say they are continuing to probe what led up to the shooting.
