Two people were killed in an accident involving 11 vehicles just south of Lamar, the Colorado State Patrol said Wednesday.
The crash occurred around 7 p.m. near U.S. Highway 287. The department said northbound drivers slowed down after their vehicles entered a dust storm, with trailing vehicles crashing into them.
At 9:30 p.m., the highway was still closed in both directions.
There were numerous injuries in the accident; the CSP said some were airlifted to hospitals.
