Traffic at Denver International Airport is returning to normal after 26 planes were diverted to nearby airports because of lightning and rain earlier Saturday.

DIA spokeswoman Laura Coale said that delays are now lasting only about 15 minutes, but travelers should check with their airlines. Earlier planes were diverted to Colorado Springs, Albuquerque, Cheyenne, Pueblo and Salt Lake City.

Coal said wind gusts at the airport reached as high as 50 mph. Pea-size hail was reported but so far it has not appeared to cause any damage.
