Two of Colorado’s top high-school basketball players announced verbal commitments to Division I programs Wednesday on Twitter.

Mike Ranson, a 6-foot-2 Pueblo Central guard in Class 4A who led the state in scoring last season at 25.6 points per game, said he will play at Northern Colorado. Ranson helped the Wildcats to a 19-6 record last season and lost to Air Academy in the Class 4A basketball state tournament Sweet Sixteen.

And Austin Mueller, a 6-6 prospect who helped ThunderRidge (in Highlands Ranch) to the 5A state title game in March, indicated he will play at Wyoming.

Both will be seniors in 2014-15.

Ranson helped Pueblo Central to a 19-6 mark. He also made 48 3-pointers in totaling 589 points.

Mueller, part of a Grizzlies group that finished 24-4 in losing to Overland in the big-school finale, averaged 6.9 points and 4.9 rebounds.
