Massive rain and hail storm hit Denver on June 24. Flooding at 16th Ave and Franklin Street. (Cyrus McCrimmon, The Denver Post)
I’ve seen several letters lately about the misleading rainfall totals listed in The Post, and I think itap time to address the situation and start reporting more accurate numbers. The most recent example is the report for last Wednesday, when a violent storm raced through the metro area around rush hour. The Post reported 0.01 inches of rain in the next day’s paper.
These numbers are gathered out at DIA, but there is a professional weather station located in City Park, and these numbers could easily be included in the daily weather almanac. While DIA shows a total of 11.14 inches of precipitation so far this year, City Park shows 23.95 inches. Which do you think is more accurate?
