Sprint is skipping a big step in shopping for a phone online: Instead of waiting days for a phone to show up in the mail, Sprint will now deliver it in person.

Direct 2 You launched Monday in Denver, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Previously, the service was offered only to existing Sprint customers. Sprint will start with about 10 Front Range “experts” who will drive to meet customers wherever they are, with a focus on Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Golden, Longmont, Loveland and Greeley. The idea is that consumers are busy. Professionals don’t have time to stand in line at a store, and stay-at-home parents don’t want to juggle a Sprint stop and keep the kids busy.

Sprint, which fell to fourth place in Colorado among mobile carriers, employs about 1,500 people in the state.
