A developer is moving forward with plans to develop Applewood Golf Course and its surrounding land.

An application to rezone the property to allow 400 homes, plus parks and open space, at West 32nd Avenue and Eldridge Street in unincorporated Jefferson County near Golden was submitted to the county June 30. The proposed development is named Applewood Active Adult Community in paperwork attached to the application.

“The proposed vision for the property is to deliver a high-quality, low-density active adult residential neighborhood with a diversity of single-family residential lot sizes, interspersed with open space, trails and landscaped buffers,” Stacey Weaks, principal of Norris Design, said in a June 26 letter to Jefferson County planner Alan Tiefenbach.

Norris Design is the authorized representative on the application. Coors Brewing Company is named as the property owner and Applewood West Holdings is listed as the developer.

The rezoning request will undergo a public hearing after review from county planners at a date yet to be determined.
