Tonight: OK, we admit it: We have a thing for Olga Kern. Every time she plays in these parts, we make a point of suggesting you go hear her. But Kern loves us back. She plays in Colorado a lot, so our relationship is more than the one-night stand we have with most touring musicians.
Tonight, she’s at the Colorado Music Festival performing solo piano works by Beethoven, Chopin and Rachmaninoff (7:30 p.m., Chautauqua Auditorium; ). These are the sort of familiar pieces that demand precision as well as personality, which is where Kern shines. After the concert, she packs her bags for the short trip to Steamboat Springs, where she’ll bring the same routine to Strings Music Festival on Wednesday (6 p.m., Strings Music Pavilion; ). Maybe you should follow along.
