Was Tulo kidding? I think so, but it was sure hard to tell.

After the , Troy Tulowitzki was asked about the Rockies with the third overall pick in the MLB draft on Monday night.

“I know he’s probably trying to take my job, so I better get my act together because I hear he’s a pretty good player,” Tulo said. “I saw his interview, and I know they mentioned my name. I think he said I was going to give him some tips, but I will probably give him no tips.

“I will probably give him the cold shoulder, keep that edge and make it tough for him.”

Trade rumors aside, Tulowitzki’s contract runs through 2020, meaning he might have quite a few more years in a Rockies uniform.

“I will probably give him the cold shoulder, keep that edge and make it tough for him.”

Troy Tulowitzki, kidding about how he will treat Brendan Rodgers, the Rockies’ first-round draft pick

Rodgers, just 18, probably won’t make his big-league debut until 2019, so it’s not like he’s going to be pressing Tulo in the near future. Besides, there are no guarantees that Rodgers will remain a shortstop.

Last week, Rodgers measured in at 6-feet-and-3/4 inches and 199 pounds. He’s a very talented athlete who impressed scouts during prep showcases last summer and batted .368 with eight home runs and 23 RBIs during his senior season in high school.
