How good can Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris, Jr. get? Will he have another all-pro season?
Woody Paige, Les Shapiro, and Broncos beat writer Troy Renck are all high on Harris.
“He is a pro bowler and he is that good,” Renck said. “Can he be better than last year? Well, he didn’t give up a pass over 22 yards last year and he didn’t allow a touchdown, so I don’t know if that’s really repeatable.”
“I think he’ll have a similar year,” Renck said. “But to have another year where you don’t allow a single touchdown pass? I think that’s a little much to ask.”
“Are we going to see a ‘Harris Island,” Paige asked.
“I do,” Renck said.
How will Harris work with cornerback Aqib Talib, who signed a six-year, $57 million contract with the Broncos in 2013?
“The issue with Talib is that he’s streaky,” Renck said. “When he’s good, he’s great and he intercepts and he makes big plays.
“He’s a little streaky so when you leave him on man it’s a little different than Harris,” he said. “Harris is very predictable in his performance. Talib is a little bit of a roller coaster ride where you’ll have to live with him getting burned a couple times but he also, like last year, had a couple pick sixes.”
