Rep. Justin Everett, R-Littleton

Sen. Vicki Marble. R-Fort Collins

If you have faith in its scorecard, then the Principles of Liberty lean right — all the way to the right. Not a single Democrat in the Colorado House or Senate graded above the lowest-rated Republican. Ouch, but, OK, it’s a very conservative group.

Seven House Republicans got A’s: Justin Everett of Littleton (98.8), Patrick Neville of Castle Rock (97.3), Steve Humphrey of Severance (96.3), Kim Ransom of Douglas County (94.7), Perry Buck of Windsor (93.9), Lori Saine of Firestone (93.9) and Gordon Klingenschmitt of Colorado Springs (88.2, which POL gave an A-minus).

The Senate Republicans had just two members to score A’s — Vicki Marble of Fort Collins (94.3) and Randy Baumgardner of Hot Sulphur Springs (93.2).

Principles of Liberty put some work into this. The group rated 172 House bills, 112 it opposed and 60 it supported. In the Senate, it took up 77 bills, 39 it liked and 38 it didn’t. From that it awarded scores in seven broad categories for the final grade: individual liberty, personal responsibility, property rights, free markets, limited government, fiscal responsibility and equal protection/rule of law.

The average House score was 51 percent. The average Senate score was 47.8.

Not surprisingly Democrats didn’t do well. Tops in their caucus was Lois Court of Denver (28.2), Steve Lebsock of Thornton (27.7), Jovan Melton of Aurora (27.2) and Daniel Kagan of Cherry Hills Village (27). The highest-rated Democratic senators were Cheri Jahn of Wheat Ridge (41.9), Lucia Guzman of Denver (38.4) and Kerry Donovan of Vail (37.7).

The last-place finishers in their respective chambers were Rep. Dianne Primavera of Broomfield (17.9) and Sen. Andy Kerr of Lakewood (27.9) percent.

Since the end of the session on May 6 we’ve seen two liberal scorecards — the and — and now this makes two conservative measures, following the .
