Authors of the constitutional amendment that legalized marijuana in Colorado want to legalize public recreational pot clubs in Denver, while Colorado Springs officials work in the opposite direction.

State law prohibits public consumption in places such as parks and on sidewalks, but there has been confusion on the definition of “public places.”

Colorado Springs city ordinances are silent on the venue issue, opening the doors for private social clubs where people can go to consume marijuana — sometimes even “acquiring” the product there.
