Forecasters are calling for scattered showers and thunderstorms on Monday in Denver in what is expected to be a cool, damp start to the week.
The National Weather Service in Boulder is forecasting a high in the city of 69 degrees.
“It will be cooler and cloudy today,” the weather service said in a forecast bulletin. “There is a chance of light rain showers this morning and a chance of … showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.”
FORECAST:
Forecasters say late day storms in the northeast corner of Colorado and in Park County south of Denver could grow strong enough to produce hail and gusty winds.
“A few high country storms could also produce heavy rainfall this afternoon and early in the evening,” the bulletin said. “However, the overall risk of severe weather is low today.”
More showers and thunderstorms are expected in the mountains on Tuesday with a chance of showers and thunderstorms on the Eastern Plains.
“A few of the storms in the high country may produce locally heavy rainfall,” the bulletin said.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are predicted each day for the remainder of the week.
“Temperatures will range from the mid 70s to lower 80s through Wednesday, then climb back into the upper 80s and lower 90s by the weekend,” according to the bulletin.
