Authorities on Tuesday identified a 20-year-old Kansas man who on Clear Creek.

The cause of Daniel Cheong’s death is still undetermined, according to Clear Creek County officials. Cheong, of Wichita, Kan., was pulled from the river off U.S. 6 by authorities responding to reports of a man in the river.

“Clear Creek EMS responded and were unable to revive (Cheong), who was pronounced dead at the scene,” the county sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Authorities are investigating the death.

The U.S. Geological Survey said Clear Creek was running at 303 cubic feet per second Saturday afternoon, which is 130 percent of its normal median flow.

The sheriff’s office said Cheong was on a commercial trip operated by Mile-High Rafting.
