The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office has hired its first public information officer.

Julie Brooks, a 12-year law enforcement veteran, was hired as the department’s first spokesperson, according to a statement from .

“The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is proud of the partnership we have built with our local media to keep our community safe and informed,” Walcher said. “To further that partnership, we recognize the value of having a PIO readily available to work directly with the media during routine events and in the times of crisis.”

Brooks has more than eight years of experience being a public information officer.
