Getting your player ready...

Left fielder Corey Dickerson has more than a dozen pairs of baseball cleats in his locker. He has been trying them on as he searches for relief from plantar fasciitis in his left foot that has sidelined him since June 16.

He has been running in tennis shoes, and the next step is to run the bases in cleats.

“I have no pain at all when I’m just walking around, but it’s when I wear my cleats that the pain returns,” he said.

There is no target day for Dickerson’s return, but he said he’s sure he will play again this season. He’s hitting .299 with five home runs in 38 games this season.

Weiss said he had high expectations for Dickerson this season.

“They were sky high,” Weiss said. “I felt like, offensively, that he would finish in the top 10 in three major categories. I think he’s that type of guy. He’s a dangerous hitter.”

Looking ahead

Braves’ Alex Wood (6-5, 3.34 ERA) at Rockies’ Kyle Kendrick (3-10, 6.00), 6:40 p.m. Thursday, ROOT; 850 AM

Kendrick’s track record in a Rockies uniform is not good (23 homers allowed in 102 innings), but his record against the Braves is solid: 9-4 with a 3.44 ERA. The last time he faced the Braves was as a member of the Phillies on Sept. 2 last season. Kendrick pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and two walks while striking out four. Wood, a left-hander, gave up four runs on 10 hits over six innings July 4 against the Phillies, but he picked up his sixth victory thanks to Atlanta’s potent offense in a 9-5 victory.

Friday: Braves’ Shelby Miller (5-4, 2.07 ERA) at Rockies’ David Hale (2-4, 5.89), 6:10 p.m., ROOT

Saturday: Braves’ Matt Wisler (3-1, 3.31) at Rockies’ Jorge De La Rosa (6-3, 4.46), 2:10 p.m., ROOT

Sunday: Braves’ Manny Banuelos (1-0, 0.82) at Rockies’ Chad Bettis (4-4, 4.95), 2:10 p.m., ROOT

Monday: All-star break
