A man was charged with attempted murder in Jefferson County after his girlfriend was found Monday walking through their apartment complex covered in blood, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman, in her 40s, remains in the hospital with “very serious” injuries, Mark Techmeyer, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said Tuesday. She was attacked by her boyfriend in the apartment they shared. His identity is being withheld pending photo lineups.
Another woman spotted the victim walking through the complex at the 3500 block of South Nelson Circle. She attempted to provide aid and called 911, authorities said. The victim was transported to the hospital and her boyfriend was located nearby.
The alleged attacker, also charged with first-degree assault, is expected to appear in court Wednesday morning.
