CentrePoint Plaza in Aurora will be closed beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday for a public safety preparedness exercise.

The exercise gets underway at 3 p.m. but the facility (14980 East Alameda Dr. ) will be closed at 1 p.m., according to Arapahoe County.

CentrePoint Plaza is a location for Arapahoe County Department of Human Services. While CentrePoint will be closed, other places where those services are offered will remain available to the public.

“While we apologize for the inconvenience closing CentrePoint Plaza early … may cause our customers, we feel it is vital that our employees are prepared should they ever face a real-life disaster or emergency,” Arapahoe County Commissioner Nancy Sharpe said in a statement.

Officials from Aurora will also be involved in the exercise.
