Getting your player ready...

Friday-Saturday: There’s something inherently underdog about Arsenio Hall, the comedian and actor who broke the late-night TV color barrier in 1989 with his eponymous, Emmy-winning talk show. Its five-year run gave Hall his widest exposure to date, although since then he has peppered himself across other films and TV projects — including winning NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” in 2012, and mounting a failed bid to regain the talk-show scepter with a new syndicated series. None of that diminishes the 59-year-old’s easy, likable stage presence, which should make his upcoming Comedy Works South shows a chance to see a different side of a versatile and frequently taken-for-granted (if also eager-to-please) performer. 7:15 and 9:45 p.m. July 17-18 at 5345 Landmark Place in Greenwood Village. $35. 720-274-6800 or .
