Saturday-Aug. 9: The Central City Opera unveils its annual bit of musical theater this weekend with a production of the popular “Man of La Mancha.” Everybody knows the “Man,” with a story inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ novel “Don Quixote,” and just about everybody knows the words to its big number, “The Impossible Dream.” The Central City company will give the Broadway-style show — with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion — an operatic twist, filling key roles with classically-trained singers. Paul Curran, who has been working with CCO for more than a decade, directs, with Adam Turner conducting. Both evening and matinee performances. 124 Eureka St., Central City $25-$102. 303.292.6700 or .
