A 5-year-old Denver girl received six staples in her head after a skateboarder struck her on the Fraser River Trail on Friday, July 10.

Robert Wilson of Denver said he and his family were crossing beneath U.S. Highway 40 on their way to Fraser when an out-of-control skateboarder struck his daughter.

“He hit her so hard she did a somersault and smacked her head into the concrete wall, and he also hit the wall and received some injuries as well,” Wilson said.

Wilson’s daughter suffered a laceration to the head and a bruised arm, while the skateboarder seemed “very concussed” and was covered in blood, Wilson said.

Winter Park-Fraser Police Chief Glen Trainor said his office had received a complaint regarding the incident with Wilson’s daughter and that it is under investigation.
