Aurora police say they are wrapping up their investigation into the last week of a 7-year-old boy.

“Investigators have been in consultation with the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office to determine if criminal charges are appropriate in this case,” police said in a Thursday news release.

The boy was shot in the head July 9 at a home on the 1000 block of Vaughn Street.

Investigators say five children — ages 7 to 12 — were in the home when the shooting happened.

The boy, whose identity has not been released, remains in serious, but stable condition at Children’s Hospital Colorado, police said. .

Police say investigators and county prosecutors hope to have more information to release on the case early next week, the release said.
