Two days after Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly said the team was “” Ty Lawson as he , Denver agreed to send the veteran point guard to Houston for four players and a 2016 first-round pick, .
The move caps for Lawson, who last week picked up , has missed practices and team meetings and was shown in a video on draft night of him and telling his friends that he’d be traded to Sacramento.
If Lawson is able to get his personal life in order, though, his career may have received a second lease with the trade — a change of scenery and two guys named Dwight Howard and James Harden.
Meanwhile in Denver, the Nuggets will try to start anew with a young-but-talented point guard.
Here are some of the early reactions to the deal:
Agent Happy Walters on Ty Lawson to : “It’s amazing. It’s good for him. He’s 1 of the better point guards. It helps the team a lot”

DEN getting a 1st of any kind for Lawson right now is actually pretty good. Low-risk bet for HOU, w/ potentially massive reward.
— Zach Lowe (@ZachLowe_NBA)
Don’t care much about how Ty Lawson fits with the Rockets. He’s got major issues to deal with, no matter what city he’s in. Wish him luck.

New Nuggets coach Michael Malone was extremely ecstatic with rookie PG Emmanuel Mudiay’s play at summer league prior to the Ty Lawson deal.
— Marc J. Spears (@SpearsNBAYahoo)
wow. Houston basically got Ty Lawson for absolutely nothing. Can’t say no to that.
— Tony Jones (@Tjonessltrib)
Lawson’s a great pickup for Houston from a talent standpoint. Hopefully he can get the help he needs for his personal issues.

Of course wanted more in Lawson deal, but two positive points: They unload his salary & Mudiay isn’t infected by Lawsons attitude.
— Eric Goodman (@EricGoodman)
No question got lowballed, but Mudiay w/be a far better point guard than Lawson. Lawson sabotaged his trade value for Nuggets.

Harden, Howard … Ty Lawson.
— Brian T. Smith (@ChronBrianSmith)
Man, if Lawson can get himself together Houston is going to have something incredible there.
