Interview with Beth Pestotnik, owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: Since I was a little girl, I have always been passionate about skin and beauty. I actually graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration at Colorado State University but later decided to pursue my true passion going back to school and receiving my medical aesthetic license. After that I went to the California Institute of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Je Boutique College of Beauty and have trained in the latest forms of skin resurfacing, skin rejuvenation, advanced anti-aging, and acne care. After years of working as an aesthetician for other top plastic surgeons in Colorado, in 1999 I took a leap of faith and founded Skin Essentials Medical Skin Care & Day Spa in historic downtown Littleton.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: At Skin Essentials, we are dedicated to providing customized, result-driven treatments to dramatically improve the health and appearance of each of our client’s skin. We practice the consultative approach to a guest experience. Each new client experiences a detailed consultation and receives a customized program that includes treatment options and appropriate home care recommendations. I am constantly seeking new, exciting, and result-driven products for our clients and am proud to offer the latest anti-aging, acne and stress reducing services that give our clients visible results in a friendly, pampering environment. I have made the health of each client’s skin the top priority at Skin Essentials. I don’t jump the gun and bring on new equipment without proper research and the patience to see if they stand the test of time.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: I love searching for new and exciting results-driven products and treatments to bring into the spa. I really enjoy researching and discovering new ingredients, and determining ways to offer them to our guests. Home care equates to 60-percent of results for our clients, so I am very passionate about providing the best options available in our boutique. I also enjoy the leadership, training and education that goes into my team. They are a huge contributing factor to the success of Skin Essentials. Having a great team has allowed me to be a successful entrepreneur, wife and mother.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Balancing a business. Being a wife and a mother of two boys can be challenging at times.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: I just co-wrote my first book, “What You Need to Know Before You Go to the Spa: Insights from Spa Experts.” This was a very exciting experience for me. I encourage you to go to skinessentialsco.com/spa -book and download it for free.
