Douglas County authorities say five firearms have been as part of an investigation earlier this month of a Monument man.
Sgt. Ron Hanavan, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, says testing has been completed on one of the submitted guns, ruling out its involvement in the death of 60-year-old Glenn Martin.
Martin was gunned down July 3 as he sat with his family waiting to roast marshmallows at a campsite in Rainbow Falls Park, a campground in Pike National Forest near Deckers.
Investigators have said they believe Martin was slain by an errant bullet.
Hanavan said Wednesday that no suspects have been identified and an investigation into the killing remains open and ongoing.
With so many gun enthusiasts in the Rainbow Falls Park area, stray bullets and been blamed for close calls, especially within the past year.
The last accidental shooting death in Pike National Forest was in 2009, when a was killed after his friend accidentally shot him at South Rampart Shooting Range. Officials the El Paso County facility.
