The trade rumors are out there regarding Rockies right fielder Carlos Gonzalez. I’ve seen CarGo linked to the Angels, Royals and Mets. But, again, there is nothing concrete to suggest that CarGo is close to being shipped out of Colorado.

After struggling for much of the season, the 29-year-old Gonzalez recently has shown flashes of the player who was a National League MVP candidate in 2010. Wednesday, he tied the Rockies’ game against the Angeles with a three-run homer in the eighth. the Rockies ended up losing, 10-8, in the ninth inning.
“It’s OK, as long as there is some team that likes the way you play. That shows respect. But that doesn’t mean I want to go someplace else.”

CarGo’s homer was the 150th of his career. Six of his 14 home runs this season have come in the eighth inning or later — tied for the second most in the NL. He is batting .333 (19-for-57) with four home runs and 11 RBIs in July.
A market could be building for a CarGo trade, but he says he’s trying not to pay attention.
“I tell everybody close to me to not tell me anything about it,” he said. “So I haven’t heard anything.”
Gonzalez said he’s not bracing himself for a trade, but he understands it could happen.
“It’s part of this game,” he said. “When you are in a situation like I am, of course your name is going to come up in trade rumors. But it’s OK, as long as there is some team that likes the way you play. That shows respect. But that doesn’t mean I want to go someplace else.”
CarGo says he wants to stay in Colorado, but he also wants to win.
“I made a commitment when I signed that contract here, because I wanted to make this city proud,” he said. “I want to win with the Rockies, but I would understand if they trade me. That’s not up to me. They would trade me because they are trying to change things around. I understand that.”
