A revised environmental assessment of a $269 million plan to expand and add on C-470 in south Denver is available for public review starting today and extends through Sept. 11.
The Colorado Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration are proposing the highway’s expansion and have signed a “Revised Environmental Assessment” for the corridor.
The proposed plan would add one tolled express lane in each direction between I-25 and Kipling Parkway, and a second tolled express lane westbound between I-25 and Lucent Boulevard, and eastbound between Broadway and I-25.
Those new lanes, plus new auxiliary lanes where needed, would help relieve congestion on existing general purpose lanes, CDOT says. The project also includes pavement reconstruction, alignment improvements and direct-connect ramps at the C-470 and I-25 interchange.
The $269 million plan will have to be funded, at least in part, by private sources, officials have said.
