An oilfield worker starts his day before the sun rises over an oil rig near Kersey, Colo., in November 2014. (RJ Sangosti, Denver Post file)
Re: “Oil patch owes wife,” July 29 news story.
The workers’ compensation benefits for Jim Freemyer’s widow Connie offer minimal justice to the unconscionable taking of a human life. It certainly does not adequately hold Now or Never Trucking and Pinnocol Assurance accountable for the death of Jim Freemyer. This preventable death clarifies the warning issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about the dangers of gas gauging.
Mrs. Freemyer’s compensation of $530 per week is just above the poverty level for a household of four ($24,250 per year). How is this a fair settlement?
